The Orlando area saw a huge decline in the sale of foreclosed homes during the second quarter, compared with the previous quarter and the year-ago period, RealtyTrac Inc. reported
The Orlando metropolitan statistical area - Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties - posted a total of 4,752 foreclosed home sales in the second quarter, which accounted for 42 percent of all home sales. That was a 30.5 decline from the 6,841 foreclosure sales in second-quarter 2010 and a 10.6 percent decline from the 5,318 foreclosed home sales reported in the first quarter of 2011.
The average sales price for a foreclosed home in the second quarter of this year was $110,563, which provided buyers with an average discount of 23 percent.
Statewide, foreclosure sales accounted for 35 percent of all sales, while 31 percent of all U.S. home sales were foreclosure sales, RealtyTrac reported.
Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac, an online marketplace of foreclosed properties, includes more than 1.5 million default, auction and bank-owned listings from more than 2,200 U.S. counties, along with detailed property, loan and home sales data.
